Mundaring Church of Christ PASTOR for Pastoral Care

Who we are:
The Mundaring Church of Christ is a family oriented, community based church in the hills of Western Australia. Located 40kms from the CBD, Mundaring is a semi-rural middle class, largely Anglo-Saxon community. We have a church membership of 80+ and an active attendance of 160 on average on a Sunday morning. The church has just celebrated its 10th year anniversary, coming into existence in 2004 as a result of the merger of 2 smaller churches in the Mundaring area.
We are operating out of a new purpose built facility on 6 acres of parkland with plans for extensions currently underway.
Who are we looking for:
Primarily someone who is gifted in pastoral care, effectively a chaplain; a leader of the pastoral care team.

Why this Job exists:

There are two distinct communities that are impacted by the ministry of Mundaring Church of Christ
Lightly\un-churched - We have nearly 750 people who are impacted by this church and its ministries but not regular attendees, many of whom are not Christians. They are associated with the church by means of very active and successful Boys and Girls Brigades, as well as through connections with the local Christian school and through activities run in this facility which is made available to community groups for hire. We need a missional, evangelistic pastoral carer / chaplain to work amongst these groups, to engage them and bring the lightly churched into a closer connection with the church community, to counsel them through trials to walk with them in their journey with or towards Christ. There are many parents connected to Christian activities through their children but as yet do not seem compelled to see the gospel as relevant for themselves.
Churched community- We have 80+ members and an average of 160 attendees on a Sunday morning.  We have one full time “pastor” who is limited in both skillset and time to adequately pastorally care for those within the church itself. We require someone to coordinate and run our connect groups and revitalise them, as well as someone to coordinate and run our existing discipleship program.

What the job will entail
The ideal candidate is someone currently operating in an existing chaplaincy role, who has the ability to relate one on one and in small groups as their primary gifting.
A secondary responsibility is training up the congregation as a community of pastoral carers by running and facilitating training in this area, a process that has been done to some extent already, but needs to be consolidated.
A tertiary responsibility for this position includes helping the existing church to integrate new converts and attendees into the life of the church community, by discovering and helping equip these people in their natural and spiritual gifts for service for the kingdom in this place.
An added responsibility for this applicant is preaching. An ability to preach is necessary, but it is not assumed that this is the primary gifting of the candidate nor need it be, and preaching opportunities will be limited but essential in backing up the minister for preaching and teaching.
Who to contact:
Interested Candidates should in the first instance apply in writing, addressing the job entailments, to

PEEL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Presbytery of Western Australia
The Peel Presbyterian Church in Mandurah, Western Australia is seeking a new Pastor/Minister.

The new Pastor/Minister will have a strong ability to preach and teach the great truths of the Scripture and the Reformed Faith as set out in the Westminster Confession, and also:

1. Hold a degree qualification acceptable to the Presbyterian Church in Western Australia
2. Be fluent in the English language
3. Have experience as an ordained minister, and preferably also some experience in church planting.
4. Be interested to build caring and loving interpersonal relationships within the Church Community
5. Have a burden for souls and a desire to evangelise within the wider community and grow the congregation
6. Possess a keen desire and ability to engage with and introduce students,  young families and youth into the congregation
7. Be willing and able to equip and train the congregation for further ministry

Based in the city of Mandurah, 45 minutes by train from the Perth CBD, the congregation has been under the leadership of one minister who is planning to retire, and who does not reside in the city of Mandurah. Mandurah lies on the Indian Ocean coast just to the South of Perth. The city has an estimated population of about 80,000 and is projected to have over 122,000 residents by 2036. The Peel congregation has much potential for further growth and now seeks a new leader to be God’s man to undertake this challenging ministry and faithfully to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The congregation is small, but has a wonderful opportunity to grow and even now experiences new people in worship on a regular basis. Peel church is blessed with a very committed core group who have an evangelistic heart. They meet in a spacious rented facility. It is important for the Session to choose the right man for this ministry who knows his own gifts well and who has faith that God will prosper the work. We are not looking for a man who is staid, stiff, and starchy; nor one who is progressive to the extent that Presbyterian polity and doctrine are abandoned just to elicit growth in numbers. Our ideal candidate will be a strong leader in his family who is energetic and will live and work in the community, and thus have the ability to be active in outreach. Our Presbytery has supported and strongly encourages the development of this work.

Applications will include a cover letter addressing the specific requirements in this advertisement, the resume or CV, a brief personal statement of testimony and faith in Christ, the names and contact information for at least three referees, and any other information deemed pertinent by the applicant. Referees will not be contacted unless and until a short list is formed, at which time audio sermons will be requested to be provided. Further details are available upon request.
