Cottage is
the old Katoomba Youth Hostel (YHA) It was started to be built in 1959
and completed in 1961. It was officially opened by Sir Eric Woodward on March 4 1961. It was originally built by volunteer labour in their spare time by dedicated friends of the YHA. It started
life as a two
bedroom small flat with a managers quarters next door. As time went by
two extra bedrooms were added. Due to its popularity, a second managers
quarters was built next door and the old managers quarters were turned
into more bedrooms. |

By the end
of the 1980's
the demand for use was so high that a new YHA was purchased in Waratah
St, Katoomba which is right next to the shops. YHA have purchased a new
place in Katoomba Rd, Katoomba (2000) Throughout the 1990's it was used for residential housing and in 1999 was purchased by the current owners Robert and Jenni Lamont and restored and greatly improved.
